The POP PIANO IMPROVISATION (for beginners) course is a weekly, one-to-one coaching session under a pop piano instructor. The student will
understudy the assigned instructor to develop his skills and techniques. This course will be suitable for adults who wish to play contemporary songs,
and who are keen to play Pop piano the easy, progressive and inspiring way. The course will involve lots of practical hands-on and will cover only
the necessary music theory to get you started. Students can learn  their favourite songs even from the start, using both hands. At the end of the
course, students will be able to play a 'decent' piece of music with simple improvisation, using both hands. The duration of the course is 10 weeks
long and students proceed to the POP PIANO IMPROVISATION course thereafter.

The student is allowed to learn ANY chosen song, from the latest English/Chinese Pop to Top hits, Worship/Hymn songs, Oldies, etc., provided the
song is within the student's playing capabilities.

The course will be ideal for:
1) anyone with very little or ZERO music background
2) anyone with the passion to play the piano using the pop approach as opposed to classical.

Course outline can be customised to student's needs if needed. As lessons are conducted one-to-one, all lessons will be conducted according to
student's learning pace and level.  

* Choice of own songs (Student will learn different ways to improvise his/her chosen songs.)
- Understudying styles of improvisation from assigned instructor

Music Theory
-Basic music notation
-Basic music chart reading
-Chords & Harmony (major & minor chords)
-Voice leading using chord inversions

Rhythmic Sense Development
-Fingering exercises
-Left & Right hand co-ordination exercises

Basic Left hand styles
-Using basic block chord patterns
-Using basic broken chord patterns

Basic Right hand styles
-Playing a song with single melody note
-Playing a song with basic harmonisation

Song Application
-Case studies of different songs (Right hand on melody, Left hand on chords)

Basic Comping using chords (Optional)

- All lessons are conducted on a 1 to 1 private basis only.

- Per term consists of 10 lessons. Each lesson is of 45 mins' duration. A fixed lesson will be held per week.

- Students are allowed to choose their preferred lesson timing, as long as the school has the available slots. We have available lesson slots from
1130 am till 915 pm. Lessons are on a fixed weekly basis.

- Students are allowed to postpone lesson to later date/timing, as long as students give at least three working days' notice to the school. The
make-up lesson can be cleared anytime. Student must give at least 4 weeks' notice to school should the student choose to terminate the course
temporarily or permanently due to any reason.

-  In the event of a public holiday where there are no classes, the lesson will not be counted. It doesn't matter whether a month has 4 or 5 weeks. We
count by completed lessons, not by the month. Thus, it doesn't matter which part of the month when you register and commence your first lesson.

- We do not have any school holidays, where you still have to pay your school fees without any classes for you to attend. So not to worry. Then
again, we count by completed lessons.
