Play By Ear started in 2003 and published its first instructional book 'How to Play Pop Piano By Ear' in 2004. Since the beginning, our school's emphasis has been to provide the best
teaching syllabus. We are constantly improving our teaching concepts and approach every day, while understanding how students can learn effectively from us. Most musicians
today can perform better than they can teach. This is common, as musicians are performers by nature. Thus, our primary objective is to 'pass on' our musicianship and playing
techniques to all our students in the most effective way. Teaching is our passion.
We are probably the only music school in Singapore that makes extensive effort in creating the 'perfect' Pop Piano Improvisation instructional book. Every year, we have successfully
published an in-house guide book to pop piano improvisation which serves as our primary teaching syllabus for the POP PIANO IMPROVISATION & POP PIANO beginners courses. Our
course books (1st - 6th editions) are all no longer for sale to the public and will only be available to students in our school. Irony, a student copy of our latest edition will be
given FREE to our newly enrolled and existing PBE students at PLAY BY EAR.
