Postpone with
3 days notice
Our school policy requires 3 days’ notice to postpone or reschedule your lesson.  We
understand that some commitments cannot be foreseen 3 days in advance (e.g. OT,
meetings, school work, appointments, etc) and that 99% of the time it’s not your fault!
However, our instructors are on standby on a fixed weekly basis for your regularly
scheduled lessons. Without sufficient notice, it is neither fair for the instructor nor the
school as we are unlikely to find a replacement student at such short notice.  However, if
you are ill and produce a valid M.C. for the day you missed, we will give you a makeup
lesson for your missed lesson!
1 month notice to
terminate
Our school policy requires 1 month notice to terminate course temporary or
permanently. The school commits an instructor and a fixed weekly lesson timing to
students upon registration. Any need to change this arrangement – you might need to
withdraw from your course permanently or suspend your lessons for an indefinite period of
time due to certain reasons – must be accompanied by at least 1 month's notice to the
school. Failure to do so will make it impossible for the school to maintain an orderly
schedule for students and will, unfortunately, result in the forfeiture of the school deposit
paid during registration.
(RIS) Relief Instructor
System
The Relief Instructor System, or RIS, ensures the continuity and quality of your lessons
when your usual instructor is taken ill, hospitalized or away on urgent leave.  Lessons go
on as usual as relief instructors, who are experienced regular PBE instructors themselves,
cover for your usual instructor in such contingencies.  Kindly understand we may not be
able to inform you or make alternative arrangements due to the nature of such unforeseen
circumstances.
When you have enrolled as a student with PLAY BY EAR, all administrative matters in regards to postponement of
lessons, termination of lessons & booking of makeup lessons can only be done officially via email:

Course fees:
PBES Level 1 (Pop Piano for Beginners): $149.53 (before GST) per 4 lessons
PBES Level 2 (Pop Piano Improvisation Level 2): $164.48 (before GST) per 4 lessons
PBES Level 3 (Pop Piano Improvisation Level 3): $168.22 (before GST) per 4 lessons
PBES Level 4 (Pop Piano Improvisation Level 4): $171.96 (before GST) per 4 lessons
PBES Jazz (Jazz Piano Improvisation): $175.70 (before GST) per 4 lessons

$20 admin fee (one-time - Incl 7% GST)
$100 refundable deposit (No GST - Refundable only upon termination with 1 month notice)
* All books/scores & materials will be provided free throughout the entire course.

-All lessons are private 1 to 1, 45mins per lesson per week, course fees are based on per 4 lessons in a month.
The course is a 'long-term' program whose duration depends on each student's unique learning requirements and learning
speeds. Each lesson is of 45 minutes' duration.  Students commit to one regular lesson per week.

- Students can choose their preferred lesson timing, as long as the school has available free slots. We have available lesson
slots from 1130am-915 pm for weekdays and 11am-5pm for Saturdays and Sundays. Lessons are on a fixed weekly basis.

- School fees will be paid on a monthly basis (on the last week before every month starts).

-  In the event of a public holiday where there are no classes, the lesson will not be counted.  Only the number of weeks
(lessons) in a month will be counted. It doesn't matter which part of the month you register and commence your first lesson,
as school fees will be prorated. We do not have any school holidays whereby you pay school fees even if there are no
lessons to attend. (which is pretty unfair & senseless)
