Why buy a Piano Bench and not a IKEA chair?
A proper piano bench is manufactured to the standard height specifications of acoustic & digital pianos. Getting a generic stool or
chair (.e.g those you buy in a typical furniture store) for your piano can be a difficult proposition. The height isn't right, and that is
quite a problem which most people don't realise. A exact height is needed for a proper sitting posture. You can't wriggle to the
right or left when you're playing the lower or upper octaves.
There is then another kind of bench - cross-axis bench, which is designed primarily for keyboardists. Cross-axis benches are
portable and can be adjusted to fit the height of the keyboard. But they don't provide an exact fit. Often it's just centimetres away
from the exact height you need, which these difference in centimetres makes quite a big difference!
